About the Counsellor
Hi, I'm Courtney Sherriff
Counsellor | Coach | Educator | Leadership and Wellbeing Advocate
Personally, I have experienced my own challenges and changes, but have had the privilege of witnessing firsthand changes in others. My family of origin is mixed-race, with multiple languages spoken. The cultural differences can cause disconnect even in the most caring relationships. I have been a witness and experienced leadership with its unique expression of loneliness. I have compassion and am an active participant in the evolution of emotional expression. In addition, I have personal experience and a deep relatability with those who live exceptional lifestyles due to their occupation, such as FIFO, ADF, First responders, etc.
I am passionate about helping individuals, couples, leaders, and communities cultivate resilience, deepen relationships, and discover greater meaning and purpose. Drawing from psychology, counselling, coaching, and existential approaches, I seek to empower others through knowledge, self-awareness, cultural understanding, and compassionate support. I believe that growth is possible even through adversity, and that developing our mental and emotional muscles enables us to live with greater strength, connection, and purpose.
This passion for individuals, couples, behaviour, leaders, culture, growth, and language led me to a career dedicated to helping others navigate life's challenges and foster meaningful change. I hold a Bachelor of Arts - Psychology and a Master of Counselling, and am a Registered Counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association.
Having studied at the University of Wollongong, Monash University, and the Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors, I bring together evidence-based psychological understanding with a compassionate and collaborative approach to counselling. I believe every individual has the capacity and capability for growth and healing when provided with a safe, respectful, and supportive environment.
I am committed to helping and empowering individuals, couples, leaders, and communities develop mental strength, deepen relationships, and thrive through greater self-awareness, communication, emotional expression, cultural understanding, and creating lasting change that aligns with their values and goals.
